As part of our Intimate Listening Concert Series, join us for a night of raag or a musical expression of moods performed on vocal (Arghya Shetty), sitar (Nathan Swami), and tabla (Mayuresh Abyankar) within the structure of the classical music of South Asia. The evening will highlight some evening raags that depict valor, longing and the impermanence that is part our state, performed in the scales of Yaman (Major Scale), Shudh Kalyan (modified pentatonic) and Bhairavi (sampoorna or all notes).
Arghya Shetty is a student of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Virginia, Nathan Swami teaches Electrical Engineering at the University of Virginia and Mayuresh Abhyankar is a researcher in Infectious Diseases at the University of Virginia.
